Mercury Marine launched its “150R” and “200R” racing outboards in Cannes, built on the basis of the “V6” platform with three liters and 400 cubic centimeters of displacement. New colors for the engines already on the price list were also proposed in Genoa

The recreational Mercury range is currently divided into four different families of engines related to each other in terms of engine blocks but different in terms of output so as to best adapt to the specific needs of each user. Overall, the powers involved range between two and a half horsepower and 600 horsepower while the engine blocks come with architectures ranging from single-cylinder to “V12”. In fact, a very broad range which was practically reconfirmed at Cannes and Genoa with a few aesthetic variations and only two new entries, two racing engines called “150R” and “200R” built on the basis of three-litre, 400 cubic centimeter “V6” engine blocks made to breathe through four-valve distributions per cylinder operated by twin-cam systems.

Fueled by an electronically controlled indirect injection system, the engines boast all the features developed by Mercury to emphasize the efficiency of its engines starting with the “Transient Spark” technology, which improves torque and acceleration by electronically adjusting the engine’s ignition timing according to the instantaneous functional state. Its action is enhanced especially in the phases of entry into planing, when the engine thrust must be maximum but the speeds are still low. There is also “Adaptive Speed Control” technology which maintains the speed desired by the yachtsman regardless of changes in load or sea conditions without the need for frequent interventions on the position of the accelerator lever.

Other features offered as standard include “Digital Throttle & Shift”, for fluid control of the engine, and “Active Trim”, to optimize the fit of the foot and therefore of the hull so as to minimize consumption without affecting performance. Conceived in this way, the two engines deliver their maximum performance at six thousand and six thousand and 400 rpm, “150R” and “200R” respectively, supported by “Torque Master” or “Sport Master” stern drives. The first, “Torque Master”, is only available on the “200R” model and is particularly suitable for pushing high-performance boats that travel on the surface of the water thanks to its lightweight structure and the transmission ratio of one point and 75 to one.
